Never colour alone
Pair every colour-coded meaning (error, selected, status) with text or shape.
Draft — not yet reviewed by a maintainer
Why it matters
Colour alone fails people with colour-vision deficiencies, monochrome screens and forced-colours mode. A text label also gives screen readers the meaning.
How to check it
View it in greyscale: every state is still identifiable from text or shape.
The default it guards against
A red border as the only sign of an error, or a highlighted card as the only sign of the recommended plan.
Library items that apply it
Where it comes from
- WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.1 Use of Color (A)
- docs/v1.2/plan.md §6.4 (sign-in default: colour-only feedback)
